Marie Rouge - Photographe

Marie Rouge, 33 years old, started photography at the age of 15 by taking self-portraits with her father's camera. Her work includes photos of protests, portraits of friends and then of well-known figures, as well as images from parties. Marie Rouge's style — always vibrant in color — is marked by empathy and gentleness. Though discreet, the Paris-based photographer does not hide her activism. She advocates for numerous causes, including the defense of minorities and gender equality.

" It was in 2020, 50 years after the Stonewall riots and the first Pride. It was also the year of Covid and endless lockdowns. Not just any march, therefore. A powerful symbol, full of determination and anger. Commissioned by Libération, I was thrilled to be reunited with my people, and the headline in the paper said ' We're here to scream that we want rights. ' "

Marie Rouge, âgée de 33 ans, s'est lancée dans la photographie à l'âge de 15 ans en réalisant des autoportraits avec l'appareil photo de son père. Son travail comprend des photos de manifestations, des portraits d'amis puis de personnalités, ainsi que des clichés de soirées. Le style de Marie Rouge — toujours très coloré — se caractérise par l'empathie et la douceur. Bien que discrète, la photographe parisienne ne cache pas son militantisme. Elle défend de nombreuses causes, notamment la défense des minorités et l'égalité des genres.

  « C'était en 2020, 50 ans après les émeutes de Stonewall et la première Pride. C'était aussi l'année du Covid et des confinements sans fin. Ce n'était donc pas n'importe quelle marche. Un symbole puissant, plein de détermination et de colère. Mandatée par Libération, j'étais ravie de retrouver mon peuple, et le titre du journal disait : " Nous sommes là pour crier que nous voulons des droits. " »
